Porter Gear Shift Indicator Failure

My 2023 Hyundai Porter diesel is showing a strange fault. Mileage is 147229 km. The gear shift indicator display isn't working. Symptoms include being unable to engage gears, implausible shifting, the gearbox slipping, grinding noises during shifting, and an error stored in memory. Could a defective control unit be the culprit? Anyone else experienced this?

I have a Porter as well, though it's an older model. Sounds familiar. Are you also seeing a complete lack of function in the gear selection display on the speedometer?

Yes, exactly! The gear selection display is totally blank. Did you end up replacing the control unit?

Yep, sounds like the same issue I had. The error code and symptoms match. While you could try diagnosing the sensors, in my case, it was indeed the control unit. A new one is quite costly so I suggest heading to the workshop.

Thanks for confirming. I suspected as much. Took it to the shop, they confirmed it's the control unit, and quoted 1000€ for the repair. Appreciate the insight!
