Hey there, thanks heaps for the insight! Your situation sounds eerily similar to mine and it's making me think I might have had a bit of an 'oops' moment too with the oil. Yikes! Out of curiosity, do you recollect how much the whole fixing process set you back? And since getting it sorted, have you faced any other problems or was that the end of the drama? Any response would be ace, cheers!
Hey again! Sure thing, I remember the cost all too well, I can tell you it left a bit of a dent in the wallet. It came down to 175€ to flush that incorrect oil and fix the whole shebang. It wasn't the cheapest day, but considering the alternative was potential engine failure, it was worth every penny. And about the oil pressure switch, my hunch was right, it was defective. So, got that replaced too when the mechanic had a look at it. Happy to report, haven’t had a single problem since those repairs! It's been smooth sailing, or rather, smooth driving since then. Looks like nipping it in the bud was the way to go. Hope your situation clears up just as well. Just remember to double-check that oil, okay? Stay safe on the roads! Cheers!
Hey, really appreciate the quick replies! 175€, huh? Steep, but definitely a lot better than, y'know, having to buy a new car. It was great of you to share the details of your experience -- honestly, it feels like an absolute godsend right now! Oil pressure switch, check. Correct engine oil, double check. You bet I'll be careful. From now on, I'm reading the oil bottles twice before pouring 'em in, haha. Thanks again for the advice, and really glad to hear your car's been running sweetly since. Fingers crossed mine follows the same route too. Cheers and safe driving to you too!
Hey there! I feel ya, really do. Similar issue popped up on my 2016 Renault Megane not so long ago – rattle in the engine and oil light on. Little metal bits in the oil too, almost gave me a heart attack. I wish it was as simple as the oil pressure switch, but turned out mine was a case of the wrong type of engine oil. You know, one of those 'oops' moments. I had accidentally put in oil that was too thick for my car's engine. So, it couldn't flow properly causing all kind of chaos inside. So what did they do, you ask? Had to drain the ol’ incorrect oil, flush the engine properly, put in the right grade of oil and replaced the oil filter too, just to be safe. The mechanic said it was a pretty serious thing - the wrong oil can damage the engine big time. Started off with just the lights, but could have led to complete engine failure if left unchecked. Just my two cents, but I would advise you to check what type of oil you're putting in your engine. If it's incorrect, it definitely needs immediate attention. Cheers!
