Power windows stopped working after battery replacement
Summary of the thread
After replacing the battery on a 2010 Mini One, the power windows stopped functioning, with error codes indicating an issue with window regulator initialization. This problem can occur due to the need for a window reset after a battery change. Suggested solutions included holding the power window switch to reset the motor, but ultimately, a professional workshop was needed to perform a specific reset procedure to resolve the issue.

Yeah, I tried holding the switch, both up and down, for like 10 seconds each time. Didn't do anything. Is that what you mean by 'holding the power window switch'? And how long should I hold it?

Yep, that's exactly what I meant, holding the switch. Sounds like you've already tried the basic window reset. If that didn't work and you're getting an error code, it might be something more serious, like the window motor itself or some kind of issue with the door panel wiring. Honestly, I'd probably take it to a workshop. Messing with the window regulator can be a pain.

Thanks so much for the insight! I ended up taking it to a workshop and they confirmed it needed some kind of 'window reset' after the battery change. Cost me 290€ but at least the windows work again!

Oh man, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar thing happen with my old Vectra after I swapped the battery. The power window on the driver's side went completely bonkers. Did you try anything like holding the power window switch up for a few seconds after it's fully closed? That sometimes works to reset the window motor.
