Presage VANOS Solenoid Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Nissan Presage is experiencing issues with the check engine light and poor fuel consumption, suspected to be related to the inlet VANOS mechanics. Possible causes include a faulty camshaft solenoid valve or a power supply issue. A similar case was resolved by diagnosing and replacing the VANOS solenoid valve, which improved engine performance. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle checked by a professional to confirm and address the problem.

A drop in power? Now that you mention it, it does feel a little sluggish sometimes. Like it's not quite got the oomph it used to. Is that what you experienced too? And how did you figure out it was the VANOS solenoid?

Yep, loss of power was definitely part of it. It felt like the engine was holding back. Honestly, I didn't figure it out myself. Took it to a workshop, they ran some diagnostics and pointed to the VANOS solenoid valve. Best bet is to get it checked properly.

Okay, cheers for the advice! Sounds like I'm heading straight to the workshop then. Turns out it was indeed the VANOS solenoid and the bill came up to 250€. Hopefully, that'll sort it out. Thanks again!

Sounds familiar! I've got a Nissan Presage too. I had a similar issue with my check engine light and fuel consumption. Turned out to be something with the VANOS solenoid. Did you notice any drop in power?
