President IAC Valve Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2007 Nissan President with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and a diagnostic test showed an error with the idle air control (IAC) valve. The engine stalls at idle, which is becoming bothersome. I suspect a contaminated intake. Has anyone else encountered similar issues?

Hey, sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Volvo. Stalling engine, check engine light, the whole nine yards. Turned out to be a faulty IAC valve. Is your air intake particularly dirty? That can gunk things up pretty quickly.

The air intake does appear to be quite contaminated. Could this contamination be the primary cause of the IAC valve malfunction? And if so, what steps should I take to resolve this issue?

Yeah, a dirty intake can definitely cause the IAC valve to malfunction. It gets all gummed up and can't regulate the airflow properly, leading to stalling. Honestly, at this point, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic. They can properly diagnose the extent of the damage and clean or replace the valve as needed.

I consulted a mechanic who confirmed the IAC valve issue and the intake contamination. The repair, including cleaning and valve replacement, cost 425€. The car now runs smoothly. Thank you again for your guidance.
