Previa Camshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Toyota Previa diesel with 114,902 km was experiencing poor starting and reduced engine power, with a diagnostic code indicating a camshaft sensor issue. The initial inspection revealed worn cable and plug connections, suggesting a possible bad connection or faulty sensor. After taking it to a workshop, the problem was confirmed to be a defective camshaft sensor, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Yeah, the check engine light is on. You mention the sensor, do you think it's likely the sensor itself is faulty, or could it just be a bad connection as I initially suspected?

Could be either, but my experience points to the sensor or its immediate wiring. Given the error code and your mileage, a faulty sensor is plausible. I’d recommend getting it checked at a workshop.

Thanks! I took it to the workshop as you suggested, and it turned out to be a defective camshaft sensor. They replaced it, and it cost me 95€. The van is running smoothly now. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Previa. Stalling engine and rough idling, right? Check the sensor. The crankshaft might be related too. Is the check engine light on?
