Previa central locking failure
Summary of the thread
The central locking system on a 2004 Toyota Previa diesel has stopped working, with neither the fob nor the interior switch functioning. A potential cause could be a faulty door contact signal, possibly due to defective cables or plugs. A suggested solution is to inspect the wiring harness in the door jamb, as wires can break from frequent door use. If self-diagnosis is challenging, consulting a mechanic is advisable, as the issue might be fixable without major replacements.

Thanks! When you say wiring harness in the door jamb, should I check the connection to the door latch, or focus on the car alarm sensor first? I want to fix it myself if possible.

Mine was a break in the harness between the car body and the door. Given your symptoms and suspicion of a bad contact, I'd suggest a workshop. Diagnosis is hard without tools. I replaced a faulty wire for 95€. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the insight. I'll take my Previa to a mechanic. The wiring harness info is helpful. Good to know it's likely fixable without big replacements.

I had a similar problem with my Previa. Check the wiring harness in the door jamb. The wires often break from opening and closing the doors. Could be an easy fix.
