Previa Electrical Issues

I'm having some weird electrical issues with my 2010 Toyota Previa hybrid. I'm getting sporadic error messages about the driving mode, and sometimes all the warning lights light up! Plus, the audio and navigation systems will occasionally cut out completely. Sometimes the whole thing feels like it's shutting down for a split second, like a computer crashing. I even plugged in an OBD-II scanner and it's showing a bunch of weird errors. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Toyota Previa hybrid was experiencing sporadic error messages, all warning lights illuminating, and occasional shutdowns of the audio and navigation systems. The issue was identified as a loose connection in the vehicle's BUS system, which is the communication network linking various electronic components. The problem was resolved by securing the cable connections to the control unit, restoring normal functionality.

That sounds eerily familiar. I had similar issues with system failures, especially with the audio and navigation, coupled with random error lamps illuminating. It can be incredibly frustrating when your control units are temporarily shutting down, leaving you with an unresponsive system. Have you checked the cable connections to your control unit or to the BUS system?

BUS system? Cable connections? Could you explain that a bit more? I'm not super familiar with car electronics, so any details would be a huge help. Which cable connections are you talking about specifically? Where are they located?

Certainly. By BUS system, I am referring to the communication network within your vehicle that allows various electronic components to interact. The cable connections I mentioned are those that link the control unit to this BUS system. It would be best to take your car to a trusted professional for an inspection. In my case, the issue was indeed a defective cable connection to the control unit, which was causing intermittent disruptions. I advise seeking a mechanic with experience in Toyota vehicles.

Thanks so much for the advice! It's good to know I'm not alone. I took it to the shop, and they confirmed it was a loose connection in the BUS system, just like you said. They fixed it for 155€ and everything seems to be working perfectly again. Your tip saved me a lot of stress!
