Previa hybrid engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Toyota Previa hybrid experienced a significant drop in engine power, especially during acceleration, with the check engine light indicating a defective throttle valve. Despite cleaning the throttle body, the issue persisted, raising concerns about a possible faulty accelerator pedal module. A similar case suggested that the entire throttle body might need replacement, which was confirmed and resolved the issue after replacement.

Yeah, it definitely feels like limp mode sometimes. And there's a noticeable delay when I press the accelerator, like the engine isn't getting the signal right away. It almost feels like the engine is idling badly. Was your issue definitely related to the throttle system?

Sounds like the exact same problem I had. I suspected the throttle sensor first, but it turned out the entire throttle body needed replacing. I'd advise getting it checked out at a workshop.

Thanks for confirming! Sounds like I'm on the right track then. Took it to a shop and, yep, throttle valve was shot. New one fitted, cost me about 265€, and it's running like a champ again. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Previa a while back: reduced power and the check engine light. Does it feel like it's going into limp mode? Any delay in engine response when you hit the gas?
