Previa MAF Sensor Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Toyota Previa is experiencing issues such as increased fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration, indicating a potential mass air flow (MAF) sensor problem. Diagnostics confirm the MAF sensor as the cause, with symptoms including an incorrect air-fuel ratio. The suggested solution is to have the MAF sensor professionally checked and replaced, which resolves the issues.

The air-fuel ratio is off. Can you share the steps you took to confirm the sensor failure? I want to see if our experiences line up before I replace it.

I didn't do much troubleshooting beyond seeing the same symptoms you have. Since the MAF sensor is so important and your performance is down, I'd get it checked at a good shop to avoid more problems.

Thanks for the advice. I got it professionally diagnosed, and it was the MAF sensor. Replacement cost 365€. It's running like it should now. Thanks!

I had similar symptoms on my Previa. It sounds like your MAF sensor is the culprit. Have you checked the air-fuel ratio? A decline in performance is a telltale sign.
