Previa torque converter issue

Hey, I'm having a nightmare with my 2015 Toyota Previa, gasoline engine. The check engine light and transmission indicator are both on. It feels like the gearbox is slipping and shifting really rough, almost grinding sometimes. I even hooked it up to a reader and there's an error stored. I'm starting to think it's the torque converter. Anyone else had this?

Sounds rough. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70. Check engine light, weird shifting, the whole shebang. Turned out to be the torque converter lock-up clutch. Was yours making any strange noises before it went?

Yeah, it was making some weird noises for sure. Grinding when shifting is exactly how I would describe it! The torque converter is what I suspect... What did it cost you to fix it on your Volvo? Was it worth it?

Cost me a pretty penny, I won't lie. Best get it checked at a workshop to be sure it IS the torque converter. If it is, you're looking at a similar bill, probably. Honestly, if the car's otherwise sound, it's probably worth fixing, but get a quote first.

Thanks for the heads up! Dropped it at the shop today, and you were spot on - torque converter lock-up clutch defective. They quoted me 2120€ for the repair. Ouch! But the van is otherwise great, so I gave them the go-ahead. Cheers for the advice!
