Previa transmission emergency mode

I'm having a real headache with my 2016 Toyota Previa (gasoline engine). The radiator oil pressure seems totally defective! The transmission indicator light and check engine light are both on, and the automatic transmission is stuck in emergency mode. It doesn't shift right at all, feels like it's slipping or shifting really rough, and there are these awful grinding noises when it finally does shift. I even scanned it and there's an error stored in the memory. Could this be related to the pressure sensor or maybe a coolant leak? Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old 2012 Opel Insignia. Same symptoms – transmission light, rough shifting, emergency mode. Did you check the cable and plug connections to the radiator? That was the cause in my case.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly should I be looking for this cable and plug connection? I'm not the most mechanically inclined, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Is it easy to spot, or do I need to get under the car?

It's usually near the radiator, connected to the pressure sensor. On my Insignia, it was a bit fiddly to reach. If you're not comfortable poking around, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly.

Okay, thanks a lot for the help! It turned out to be exactly what you said – a defective cable connection. The workshop fixed it for 95€. You saved me a ton of worry!
