Primastar rear sun blind issue
Summary of the thread
The rear sun blind of a 2014 Nissan Primastar is malfunctioning, sometimes getting stuck and not retracting or extending properly, accompanied by an error message on the dashboard. Cleaning the rails did not resolve the issue, suggesting a potential electrical problem. The absence of sound when attempting to operate the sun blind indicates a possible issue with the motor, fuse, or relay. After checking the fuses and consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that the motor is defective and requires replacement.

Thanks for the quick response! No, there's no sound at all when I try to use it. Just nothing. The error code points towards the sun blind motor, but I wanted to see if there might be anything else I could check before assuming the worst. Is there a fuse that controls the sun blind, maybe? Or perhaps a relay?

Right, if there's absolutely no sound, then a fuse or relay is a good shout. Check your owner's manual for the fuse box diagram and see if there's a fuse specifically for the rear sun blind. A relay issue is possible, but less likely if it's completely dead. However, if the error code is pointing directly at the motor and the fuse is fine, you're probably looking at a defective motor. At this point, it might be worth getting a professional diagnosis. They'll be able to confirm the motor is the issue and give you a quote for replacement.

Thanks again for your help. I checked the fuses, and they all seem fine. I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed it's a defective motor. They quoted me 330€ for the repair, which seems reasonable. I'll get it sorted. Cheers!

Sounds like a pain. The fact that there's an error code stored suggests it's more than just a mechanical issue. Since you've already tried cleaning the rails, it's likely something electrical. Does the motor sound like it's struggling, or is there no sound at all when you try to operate it? Is it making any strange noises, like clicking?
