Primastar rough running and stalling

I'm having issues with my 2023 Nissan Primastar diesel with 122106 km. The check engine light is on, and the engine runs roughly, sometimes stalling at idle. I also experience jerking when accelerating. Could this be a defective fuel pressure sensor? I checked the cable and plug connection, but couldn't find any issues.

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Nissan Primastar diesel was experiencing rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion was a defective fuel pressure sensor. After checking the cable and plug connection, the issue was confirmed to be a corroded connector and a faulty fuel pressure sensor. Replacing the sensor and cleaning the connector resolved the problem, restoring smooth engine performance.

Hey, I had similar issues with my 2018 Opel Insignia a while back. The symptoms you describe sound very much like a fuel pressure problem. Rough running, stalling, and jerking – all classic signs. Did you check the fuel pump relay and the wiring leading to the fuel pump itself? Those can cause similar problems if they're corroded or loose.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't check the fuel pump relay or the wiring to the fuel pump. Where is the fuel pump relay located, and how can I check the wiring for corrosion or looseness? Is there anything specific I should look for?

On my Insignia, the fuel pump relay was in the engine bay fuse box, but it could be different on your Primastar. Check your owner's manual for the exact location. As for the wiring, look for any signs of green corrosion, frayed wires, or loose connectors. Honestly, if you're not super comfortable with electrical stuff, it might be worth having a workshop take a look. Could save you a lot of headaches!

I appreciate the advice. I took the car to a workshop, and it turned out to be a defective fuel pressure sensor, as suspected. The cable connector was indeed corroded. They replaced the sensor and cleaned the connector, and now it runs smoothly again. The total repair cost was 95€ Thanks again for your help!
