Primastar Transmission Control Unit Failure

Fluid levels were inspected and found to be within specified limits; the fluid itself presented no obvious signs of degradation or contamination. The error codes do indeed point directly towards the TCM. Considering this, what are your thoughts on whether a control unit reset might rectify the issues? Or could it be a lost cause?

With error codes pointing at the TCM and the symptoms you've got, a reset is probably a long shot. Could be worth a try as a last resort, but honestly? I reckon you're looking at a faulty control unit. Best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop to confirm, but prepare for the worst. Sadly, these things do go wrong eventually.

I appreciate your insights and candor. I suspected as much. A workshop visit confirmed the defective TCM, resulting in a repair cost of 1000€. Again, thank you for confirming my suspicions.

Grinding noises and emergency mode, huh? Sounds nasty. Have you checked the basics first, like the transmission fluid level and condition? A simple drain and fill can sometimes work wonders, although the symptoms you're describing do point towards something more serious. Also, are the error codes related to specific sensors or the TCM itself?
