Primera Diesel Poor Starting
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Nissan Primera diesel is experiencing poor starting and reduced power, with an error code suggesting a potential issue with the camshaft sensor. The problem could be due to a faulty camshaft sensor, a defective cable, or plug connection. After considering the crankshaft sensor as a possible cause, it was determined that the issue was indeed a defective cable/plug connection on the camshaft sensor, which was resolved with a workshop repair.

That's an interesting point. I had considered the crankshaft sensor, but the error code seemed to point towards the camshaft sensor. Was the error code you received specific to the crankshaft sensor, or did it indicate something else?

Now that you mention it, the error code wasn't exactly clear. However, after replacing the crankshaft sensor, the problems disappeared. I'd suggest having a professional take a look. It could save you time and money in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it was a defective cable/plug connection on the camshaft sensor. Workshop repair cost 95€. Your suggestion helped me double-check everything.

Interesting. I have a Primera too. Are you sure it's the camshaft sensor? I had similar symptoms – poor starting and reduced power – and it turned out to be the crankshaft sensor. Have you checked that as well?
