Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check the air intake. When you say 'throttle body', is that the same as the throttle valve? And how did you figure out it was the throttle body on your Astra? Any specific tests you did?

Yes, throttle body and throttle valve are pretty much the same thing. I initially suspected the air intake, but cleaning it didn't solve the issue. I eventually took it to a workshop, and they ran some diagnostics that pointed directly to the throttle body. They said the electronics inside were failing. Best to get it checked out by a pro.

Okay, that's good to know. I'll get it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They quoted me around 265€ for the replacement cost of the throttle valve. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Really appreciate the help.

Hi there! I had a similar problem with my 2008 Opel Astra. Reduced power and the check engine light were on. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty throttle body. Have you checked the air intake for any obstructions? Sometimes a dirty air filter can cause similar symptoms. It's worth a look before you start tearing things apart.
