Primera rear window heating issue

My 2002 Nissan Primera with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The rear window heating isn't working. I've got an error stored, and the windshield heating isn't performing as it should either. Could a heavily discharged or defective battery really cause these kinds of problems?

I had a similar issue with my Primera; I wonder if it could be the same for you. Was the error message you received related to voltage or power supply? Maybe check the connections to the rear window heating element. Are they corroded or loose?

Voltage-related error, definitely. I'll check those connections tomorrow, but wouldn't a bad connection just cause it to not work at all, rather than throw an error code? Is yours the same engine type?

Mine was throwing a code as well, same engine. Turned out the battery was on its way out and messing with the electrical system. If the connections look good, I'd advise getting the battery checked by a professional, perhaps visiting a workshop.

Thanks. You were spot on. Workshop confirmed a defective battery was causing the issues, and after replacing it the rear window heating now works perfectly! Repair cost was 290€ Appreciate the help!
