Primera Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Fault

I used a generic OBD2 reader. I haven't checked the transmission fluid level directly, as I was hesitant without guidance. Would a Nissan-specific tool provide more detailed information relevant to the sensor malfunction?

Yeah, a Nissan-specific tool might give you a more precise error code and potentially point to other issues. But honestly, the fact that you're getting those symptoms and a pressure sensor fault makes me think it's still worth checking the oil level first. It's the simplest and cheapest thing to rule out. But I'd recommend taking it to a reputable workshop. Those transmissions are pretty sensitive and it might be worth getting it checked out professionally.

I followed your suggestion and had the transmission oil level checked at a local workshop. The oil level was critically low, leading to the pressure sensor malfunction. After a fluid top-up and sensor reset, the issue has been resolved. The total repair cost was 365€.

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Primera. Same symptoms: warning lights, funky shifting. Have you checked the transmission fluid level? Sounds basic, but that's what caused my issues. A low oil level can throw off the pressure readings and cause the sensor to freak out. Where did you see the fault code? Was it a generic OBD2 reader, or a proper Nissan diagnostic tool?
