Yeah, come to think of it, there is a kind of metallic clanging sound at startup! It's hard to describe. Did you end up replacing the whole exhaust system on your Opel?

Based on your description, it certainly sounds like the exhaust flap. I strongly advise against attempting a DIY repair of the exhaust system. Due to the potential impact on engine performance and emissions, I recommend a visit to a qualified workshop for a professional assessment and repair.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the exhaust flap was defective. They replaced it, and it cost me 190€. The error is gone, and the car sounds normal again.

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms: error in the memory, increased exhaust noise, and a rattling engine upon starting. In my case, it was indeed the exhaust flap. Was your Chevrolet making a metallic clanging noise when you started it?
