Prisma temperature sensor and AC issues
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Chevy Prisma is experiencing issues with a temperature sensor error and non-functional air conditioning. The problem may be linked to engine cooling or a coolant leak, but the engine temperature appears normal, and coolant levels are adequate. The issue could stem from a defective air conditioning control unit, as suggested by the symptoms. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a professional to diagnose and resolve the problem effectively.

Thanks for the quick reply! The engine temp gauge seems normal, not overheating. I did check the coolant level, and it looks okay. So, if the coolant level is fine and the engine isn't overheating, what else could be causing the error and preventing the AC from working? You mentioned the ECU, could that really be the culprit?

Okay, the fact that your temperature gauge is normal is good, but it could still be a faulty reading. However, with the AC refusing to engage, it really points to a possible defect in the air conditioning control unit. It is possible that the error you see stems from there. Given all the symptoms and the fact that the AC isn't working, it might be time to take it to a trusted workshop. It is likely that you will have to pay around 980€, but they can properly diagnose the issue and prevent further damage.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. I'll take it to the shop. Turns out, the error message was caused by a defective air conditioning control unit.

Whoa, that sounds like a multi-layered problem! The fact that your AC isn't kicking on along with the temperature sensor error makes me think it could be more than just a faulty sensor. The heat exchanger, in this case, is part of your HVAC system. Is your engine overheating at all? If the ECU (Engine Control Unit - basically your car's brain) thinks the engine is too hot, it might shut down the AC to prevent further stress. Have you checked your coolant levels? A low coolant level could definitely trigger those symptoms.
