Prius ABS Failure

My 2003 Toyota Prius (hybrid) is showing the ABS lamp, and the system seems to have failed. The error memory also has some errors stored. My mechanic says it's a lateral acceleration sensor fault, and the control unit may be defective. Has anyone experienced this? It’s got 98188 km on the clock, and I'm worried about safety! Is it related to steering angle or yaw rate?

Hey! I have a Prius too and had similar ABS issues a while back. Did they say anything about traction control being affected? The safety warning freaked me out!

Yes, they mentioned the traction control might be affected! What was the eventual damage?

Yep, it was the same thing. They replaced the defective electronic control unit, and it sorted it out. Cost me around 1000€. I'd definitely get it checked out properly at the workshop.

Okay, thanks for confirming! I’ll get it sorted at the workshop. Hopefully, it will fix the ABS failure. Appreciate the insight!
