Prius ABS Traction Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Toyota Prius is experiencing issues with the ABS lamp lighting up and traction problems, suggesting a potential failure in the ABS system. Despite scanning for error codes, no issues related to wheel speed sensors were found. The problem may be linked to a defective ABS control unit or faulty connections to it. It is recommended to have the ABS control unit checked, possibly requiring professional workshop assistance to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the input signals directly at the ABS control unit. Is that something I can test with a multimeter, or do I need some specialized diagnostic equipment?

You can try with a multimeter but honestly, based on my experience, it's likely the control unit itself. I tried fiddling with it, but ended up taking it to a workshop. Saved me a lot of headache.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but it sounds like that's the best course of action. Estimate I received from the workshop is around 1000€ since they believe the ABS control unit is defective. I will post the resolution later!

I had something similar happen in my Prius. ABS and traction control going haywire. Did you check the input signals to the ABS control unit itself? Sometimes a faulty connection there can cause these symptoms.
