Prius Check Engine Light Rough Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Toyota Prius is experiencing a check engine light, rough idling, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the knock sensor or its connections. It is advised to inspect the sensor connections for corrosion or loose plugs, particularly along the wiring harness. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a defective cable to the sensor, which was subsequently repaired.

Loose plugs, you say? Where exactly should I be looking for those?

The knock sensor connector itself, and along the wiring harness. But honestly, those symptoms with a knock sensor point to a deeper issue. Probably best to get it checked by a workshop. Could be a defective cable or plug connection. Repair should cost you around 95€.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. It turned out to be exactly what you said - a defective cable to the sensor. Got it fixed.

Could be. Check engine light, poor performance, higher fuel consumption... sounds like a sensor issue. Have you checked the sensor connections for corrosion or loose plugs?
