Prius Electric Steering Column Issue

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2019 Toyota Prius (hybrid engine), which has about 60,576 km on it. I'm getting an error related to the electric steering column adjustment, and the steering column can no longer be adjusted electrically. I ran a diagnostic and it's showing an error stored in the error memory. I've checked the fuses and they seem fine. I suspect it might be a faulty cable or plug connection somewhere in the steering column assembly. Has anyone else run into something similar with their Prius or another Toyota model?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Toyota Prius owner reported an issue with the electric steering column adjustment, which was no longer functioning and showed an error in the diagnostic memory. Initial checks of the fuses were fine, leading to a suspicion of a faulty cable or plug connection. After manually checking the connections, the problem persisted, prompting a visit to a workshop. The workshop confirmed a defective plug connection as the cause, which was then repaired.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Electric steering issues can be tricky. Did the error code specify which part of the steering adjustment system is throwing the error? Also, have you tried manually checking the connections to the adjustment motor and the control module? Sometimes they just come loose.

Thanks for the quick response! The error code was fairly generic, something along the lines of 'Steering Column Adjustment Malfunction'. I haven't had a chance to dive in and manually check all the connections yet, but that's next on my list. Is there a common area where these connections tend to fail on the Prius?

Without the specific code it's hard to be sure. Check the connections like I mentioned. After that, I'd take it to a workshop. Steering is important.

Thanks for the advice. I finally had time to check all connectors, but all of them were correctly connected. So I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed a defective plug connection. Repair cost was 95€ Appreciate your help!
