Prius engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Toyota Prius experienced a noticeable reduction in engine power, accompanied by the check engine light. Diagnostics suggested a defective throttle valve, potentially linked to the accelerator pedal module or faulty electronics. After further investigation, the issue was confirmed to be a defective accelerator pedal module, which was replaced, resolving the power loss problem.

Thanks for the quick response! Response delay is there sometimes, especially at lower speeds. Do you remember if that throttle sensor issue was difficult to diagnose, and did it throw any specific error codes?

Yes, definitely sounds like the same problem. If the delay is getting worse, don't wait, just take it to a workshop. It could cause a bigger problem if you ignore it. It could also be unsafe to drive.

Took your advice and brought it in. Turns out the accelerator pedal module was indeed defective, just as initially suspected. Replacement cost me around 265€. Runs like a dream now. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I had almost the same thing happen in my Prius! Check engine light and everything. Was there any response delay when you hit the gas? It could be a throttle sensor issue messing with the air flow. I hope you can get it fixed!
