Prius Gear Display Failure

Hey, I'm having trouble with my 2014 Toyota Prius hybrid. It's got 173811 km on the clock. Recently, it's started acting up. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, the gear selection display on the speedometer is dead, cruise control is a no-go, and sometimes the engine just won't start. I think it's something to do with the clutch pedal switch, maybe a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone seen anything like this? It's driving me nuts.

Summary of the thread

The 2014 Toyota Prius is experiencing issues with the gear selection display, cruise control, and engine starting, potentially linked to the clutch pedal switch or related wiring. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a faulty sensor or wiring near the clutch pedal. It is suggested to have a professional inspect and repair the issue to avoid further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds frustrating! I had similar issues with my old Renault Megane, although it was a petrol, not a hybrid. The symptoms were almost identical – engine refusing to start sometimes, and the cruise control packing in. Turned out to be a faulty sensor near the clutch pedal. Is the clutch switch easily accessible on the Prius?

A sensor near the clutch pedal, huh? Interesting. I'll have to look closer. Was it definitely the clutch switch, or something else entirely? And how much did it set you back to fix?

Yeah, pretty sure it was related to the clutch switch, or at least the wiring going to it. Messing with that area fixed it for me. Honestly, I got fed up trying to diagnose it myself and took it to a workshop. They sorted it quickly. If you're not confident poking around, might be worth getting a professional to take a look. Save yourself some hassle.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. At least I have some idea of what to tell them now. The repair cost me 95€. Cheers!
