Prius Overheating Check Engine Light

I'm having a weird issue with my 2011 Toyota Prius hybrid. The check engine light keeps coming on, and the engine is overheating! I've only driven 66796 km. Could a faulty air flap be the problem? I'm not sure what to do.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot. The check engine light and overheating were caused by a defective flap motor in the air intake. Does your Prius’s cooling system seem to be working overtime?

Yes, the cooling fan seems to be running constantly, even on short trips. If it was the flap motor, how did you fix it on your Peugeot?

On my Peugeot, it turned out the electromechanism of the flap was completely shot. Since you're seeing similar symptoms, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. Could be the same issue, and you don't want to risk further damage.

You were right! Took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it was the active air flap electromechanism. The repair cost 590€ but at least the overheating is gone and the check engine light is off. Thanks for your help!
