Hey, thanks for your reply. My 2015 BMW 3 series has now been running for 66000 km or since the last inspection without any major problems. Apart from the lights, the car is behaving normally, no unusual noises or anything. The only thing I've noticed is that the warning lights usually come on when the car has been standing outside in cold temperatures for a long time. I hope this information helps you. Thanks again for your help!

Hey, thanks for the additional info. It's really hard to say what exactly the problem might be, but it really sounds like a problem with the ABS system. It was the same with my BMW and it turned out to be a faulty ABS control unit that needed to be replaced. In your case, as the warning lights mainly come on when the car is left in the cold for long periods, it could also be that the cold has an effect on the sensor or the control unit. I would advise you to have the car checked by a garage. Perhaps they can tell you more precisely what the problem is. It can also do no harm to have the fault memory read out. In many cases, this can provide information about where the problem lies. I hope this helps you a little. Good luck solving the problem! It would be great if you could let us know what it was in the end.

Thanks for the detailed answer. You're right, I should have the vehicle checked by a garage. Maybe they can find the exact fault. I will definitely have the fault memory read out, maybe I can find the source of the problem that way. And yes, of course I'll keep you posted and let you know what the problem was in the end. Thanks again for your help and tips!

Servus, I can say from experience that the problem with older BMW vehicles is often the drive shafts. There is a kind of "incremental ring" on the drive shaft which the ABS sensor uses to measure the wheel speed. Over time, however, it starts to rust under the ring, which increases the diameter of the ring and therefore the measured value is no longer correct. Sometimes it can get to the point where the ring is already rubbing against the ABS sensor. If this is the case, the drive shafts and the ABS sensors must be replaced. MFG

Good afternoon ! On my mother's BMW 3 series E46, the lights of the ABS / DSC, the handbrake ON AND the speedometer and consumption meter only come on above a certain speed.
Can I assume that also in this case the driveshafts and ABS sensors need to be replaced ?
Regards
It's possible that the issue could be related to the drive shafts and ABS sensors, but it could also be a problem with the wheel speed sensor or even the ABS control module. I would recommend starting with a diagnostic scan to read the fault codes. This should give you a better idea of where the problem lies. If the issue is safety-relevant, I would recommend having a mechanic check the issue. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know if you have any further questions.
Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2013 BMW 5 series, I would say I have medium experience with cars. When my ABS control unit was faulty, my garage replaced it with a new one. It was not an easy task and cost me about 1000 euros. Could you give more details about your car and its behavior? Maybe then I can give you more specific advice. It would also be helpful to know any other symptoms to make a more accurate diagnosis. Hope this helps you!
