Problem with frozen spray nozzles on 2005 Toyota 4Runner - tips on how to fix it?

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2005 Toyota 4Runner (gasoline engine). The spray nozzles are somehow frozen. Could it be that the nozzle heater is going crazy? Have any of you ever experienced something like this and can give me a tip on how to fix it? What have your garages done to solve the problem? I would be pleased to hear about your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2005 Toyota 4Runner is experiencing frozen spray nozzles, potentially due to a malfunctioning nozzle heater. A similar issue in a 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser was caused by a defective cable connection rather than the heater itself. It is suggested to check the cable connection, especially since the vehicle is often parked outside, which could contribute to freezing. The owner plans to consult a garage to investigate the cable connection as a possible solution.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser. I'm not a car mechanic either, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. In my case, the problem was not the nozzle heater. The cable connection was defective. I had it done in a garage and they charged me 155.0 euros for it. Tell us a bit more about your car. Do you leave it outside or in the garage? What do the cables for the jet heater look like? This can help us understand the problem better. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! The car is mostly parked outside because I don't have a garage. The wires for the jet heater actually look ok so far. I've got 43282 miles on it so far and the last service was a few months ago. I'll ask the garage if it could be the cable connection. Thanks for the tip!

Hey, no problem, I'm happy to help! Leaving the car outside, especially in cold weather, could actually be the problem - the nozzles can freeze in ice and moisture. But if you say the jet heater cables look ok, I would really have the cable connection checked. As my Land Cruiser is a similar model to your 4Runner, it could well be the same problem. Good luck in the workshop and let's hear what comes out of it!

Hey, that makes sense. I'll definitely have the cable connection checked. And leaving the car outside could really be a reason. I definitely hope to get the problem solved quickly before I need defrosted windows. Thanks for sharing your experience! I'll let you know when I hear more from the garage. Cheers!
