Problem with fuel filler flap position sensor on Peugeot 308 petrol engine 2022

Check engine light on

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Fault stored

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Peugeot 308 petrol engine built in 2022. The check engine light is on and there is a warning light in the speedometer. I have read out the error and it shows position sensor fuel filler flap faulty. Has anyone experienced anything similar and could give me tips on how this was fixed at the garage? Any info would be super helpful, thanks!

Hi, I had a similar case with my Peugeot 208, model 2020. Honestly, I only have a little experience with cars. I had to replace the ECU in my garage and it cost about 1000 euros. Could you tell me more about the problem with your car? Maybe then I can help even better.

Thanks for your reply. The error message cannot be deleted. I brought the car in for its last service at 72511km and this problem has been occurring ever since. I just don't want to spend unnecessary money on an unnecessary part replacement when it might be something simple. Your 1000 euro story sounds pretty expensive, hopefully it's not that bad for me. Do you have any tips on how I can check it myself without having to go straight to the garage? Cheers!

Hey, I can totally understand your annoyance, especially because of the high costs. Unfortunately, it was a bit more complicated with my Peugeot, but not every problem means an expensive repair. So, in your case, it could really be the fuel filler flap position sensor. You could try opening and closing the fuel filler flap a few times, maybe the sensor is just stuck. If the problem persists, it could be the control unit, as with my Peugeot. It's worth a try before you go to the garage. Good luck, hopefully it's nothing serious!

Hello again and thanks for the tips! Well, I'll try opening and closing the fuel filler flap several times, maybe the sensor just has a little hang-up. Maybe I'll be lucky and it's nothing serious. If that doesn't help, I'll probably have to go to the garage after all. I'll keep your experience with the control unit in mind in case it does come down to that. Thanks again for the advice and your time!
