Hi, thanks for your reply. My Beemer has already clocked up 198357 kilometers, but is actually still running great. I've never had any problems with the cooling. This is the first time. Are there any other ways of solving this other than the workshop? Maybe some DIY tricks or something?

Hi, I'm pleased that your BMW is still running well despite the high mileage! I had my problem with a similar mileage, which returned to normal after changing the cable. There are definitely a few things you could try yourself before going to the garage. Firstly, checking the coolant level might help. If it's too low, please top it up. But be careful, only do this when the engine has cooled down! Secondly, you could check the auxiliary water pump. Maybe one of the cables is off or loose, preventing the pump from working properly. Another option would be to check for leaks in the system. Moisture or puddles under the car can be a sign of this. And finally, you could use an OBD2 scanner to get accurate fault codes from your car's computer system. That might give you a more accurate idea of what's going on. I hope this helps you! But remember, if you're not sure, it's always better to get a professional in. Sometimes DIY can do more harm than good, especially if you're tampering with your car's cooling system. Good luck with that!

Hello, your answer helps me a lot, thank you! I will try your suggestions and hope I can solve the problem. I will check the cable on the pump first and then follow the other steps. I don't have any experience with the OBD2 scanner yet, but your tip sounds interesting. I've also thought about calling a professional, depending on how it goes. Thanks again for your help and wish you all the best!

Hi As you wrote above, ''coolant level low''. Do you have a puddle under the car? I would rule out a leak in the cooling system before I start replacing parts. Maybe you just had an uninvited guest under the hood. Otherwise, I would proceed as the others have already written. Good luck

Hello. Carly only shows an error code for the additional water pump. Does this need to be replaced immediately? Could there be engine problems or is it just for the air conditioning? MfG

Hello, Which error have you saved exactly? If the pump no longer works at all, it is of course possible that your engine could be overheating. As a rule, there is no separate water pump for the air conditioning system.

The error code is 00A6D1.
And error category like heating and air conditioning displayed so I thought it was nothing bad regarding the engine? MfG

Good day, this error is the JBE: Auxiliary water pump that is responsable for supporting the cooling of the engine. In case of engine overheating this can cause serious damage. Hope this helps!

Hi, I had something similar with my 2016 BMW 5 series. I'm actually not a professional, but have a bit of experience with cars and troubleshooting. My garage was great! They quickly identified the problem and the cable on the pump/control unit was faulty. It cost me 225 euros. Can you please share some information such as mileage, exact model, and have you had cooling issues in the past? I might then be able to help in a little more detail.
