Problem with the alarm system of the Opel Vivaro 2017: fault with the anti-theft alarm system tilt sensor
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
An Opel Vivaro 2017 owner is experiencing issues with the alarm system, suspecting a fault with the anti-theft alarm system tilt sensor. A similar case was resolved by checking the car's fault memory at a garage, which identified sensor issues. Suggested solutions include disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to reset the system or visiting a workshop for a professional diagnosis and repair estimate.

Hi, thanks for the tip! No, nothing has been rebuilt or repaired recently. I've just run the 114631 km. I'll probably have to go to the workshop to read the fault memory. Nothing conspicuous was found at the last service, but that was a while ago. Hope it won't be too expensive.

Hello, no problem, you're welcome! Your Vivaro has already been through a lot, but that's normal. So before you go to the workshop, it might be worth trying to disconnect the battery briefly and then reconnect it. Sometimes a brief power failure can reset the fault memory and the problem is gone. But if that doesn't work, I would indeed visit a workshop. Maybe it's just a small sensor that needs replacing. I would also recommend getting an accurate estimate before you have any work done. That way you know in advance what costs you can expect. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's something simple and won't be too expensive. Keep us up to date and have a safe journey!

Hi, thanks for the additional tip! I'll try that with the battery today. And if that doesn't help, then I'll ask the garage for a quote as you suggested. I really hope it's just a small sensor problem. Thanks for the support and good advice. I will keep you updated. See you soon and have a good trip!

Hello Caroline, if changing the batteries didn't solve the issue, it might be a problem with the alarm system itself. It could be a faulty sensor or a wiring issue. I would recommend having a professional mechanic diagnose the problem. They can use specialized tools to read the fault codes from your car's computer, which can help pinpoint the issue. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2015 Opel Movano, I would say I have some experience with cars but I'm not a professional. I went to my local garage, they then found the fault in the sensors for the alarm system and fixed it. It cost me 250 euros. Have you had the car's fault memory read out? The garage can usually tell you where the problem lies. To give you more precise details, I could use some more information about your car. Has anything been modified or repaired recently?
