Problem with the central locking system and Hall sensor on the 2019 Citroen DS3 petrol engine

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2019 Citroen DS3 petrol engine. Strangely, the central locking is acting up, the warning light in the speedometer is constantly flashing and the car won't start at all. I've done a bit of research and think that the Hall sensor on the ignition key is faulty. Have any of you had similar experiences and can you give me tips on how to rectify the problem? How did you get it fixed at the garage and what were your experiences? I am grateful for any tips!

Hi, I may be able to help you. I had a similar problem with my 2017 Citroen C3 petrol car. I'm not an expert but have a bit of experience with cars. This sounds very much like a faulty ECU, not hall sensor. I had exactly the same problem with my car. The mechanic at my garage replaced the faulty control unit. It cost me 600 euros at the time - not cheap fun, unfortunately. To help you more accurately, could you please share more information about your car? Especially about mileage and whether you have recently made any modifications. I hope that helps you. Let us know how it turns out.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! It's funny how often these control units cause problems, isn't it? Well, mine currently has 126054 km on it. The last workshop visit was almost exactly a month ago, but there was just the usual routine check, no changes or anything. I really thought it was the Hall sensor, but if you say it was also the control unit, then I'll have that checked. 600 euros is a lot of money, but if it works again, that's fine by me. Fingers crossed! Tell me, did you have your control unit replaced in a brand workshop or at an independent workshop?

Hi, yes, that's a real thing with the control units... Your mileage and the last workshop visit don't necessarily indicate that it's the Hall sensor, especially if nothing major has been done. I had my control unit done at a brand-name workshop, they have the original parts and the right software to adjust it. It was a bit more expensive, but I was sure that they would get it right. If I were you, I'd do the same, especially as you've already got so many kilometers on the clock and the control unit is a pretty central element in modern cars. All the best and let me know how it goes!

Hi, thanks for your advice! That's really helpful. You may not be an expert, but your experience and advice sound very coherent. I will take my Citroen to a branded garage and have the ECU checked and probably replaced. It's reassuring to know that they have the original parts and the correct software. Of course it hurts a bit when I think of the cost, but what don't you do for your car! I'll keep you posted and let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your support!
