Problem with the exterior mirror heating on the Mercedes SLC Class 2014

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my 2014 Mercedes SLC Class. Specifically, it's about the wing mirror, which no longer defrosts. My first assumption is that the wing mirror or the wing mirror heater might be defective. Does anyone here have any experience with this and can possibly help me? What other causes could there be and how did your garage solve the problem? I would really appreciate your tips and experience. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I went through something similar with my 2012 Mercedes SL Class. I only know a little bit about cars, but I somehow managed to sort it out. My garage discovered that the cable connection/plug was faulty. The repair cost me 155 euros. Does it make sense to give your Vin number to get more precise details? Maybe your wing mirror heater was under too much strain or the model generally has some stress points on the plug connections. Hope that helps!

Hey, thanks for the tip, that could actually be the cause. My last service was at 193508 km, but the problem with the mirror was already there before that. It couldn't have been an overuse of the heater, as I never actually use it. I'll bring it up at the next workshop visit. It will cost a bit if the plug really is the problem, but the main thing is that the thing works again.

Hey, cool that you're getting in touch. I understand your frustration, working mirrors are important. But if you never use the heater... maybe it's really just the plug that's the problem. In my case it was a broken cable, and that can happen even if the heater doesn't run often. Be sure to mention this at your next visit to the garage. Maybe check BSF parts and warranty, just to be on the safe side. Makes sense on your part. If it really is just the plug, the price of the repair is still reasonable. Just don't start trying to do it yourself, it can quickly become more expensive than expected. And hopefully everything will be fine and the mirror will be fully functional again!

Hey, thanks again for the advice! I was also hoping for a minor problem, so the faulty plug sounds rather reassuring. I'll definitely take your tips to heart and have it checked at the garage first. And no, I'm not planning to do it myself. I'd rather have the professionals do it. Thanks for the tip about BSF parts and warranty, I'll check that out too. Let's hope for the best! Thanks again and have a nice day.
