Problem with the gearshift and unusual noises in a 2017 Mercedes X Class diesel
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mercedes X Class diesel is experiencing erratic gear shifting, grinding noises, and unusual whistling, potentially due to transmission oil pressure issues. A similar issue in another Mercedes model was resolved by replacing a faulty transmission control unit. It is advised to visit a garage for a proper diagnosis, as the problem could be related to the transmission control unit or another component.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My car has already done 151618 km. I last had it serviced last week. I also did some research online and I'm afraid that it could really be the transmission control unit. I will still go to the garage to make sure. 10 euros is not cheap, but if it solves the problem, it's worth it.

Hey, no problem, man! I feel for you, it's really not a nice feeling when the car starts to show such quirks. Actually, the mileage of your car is in the range where such transmission problems can occur. Even though it's annoying, I would definitely recommend you go to the garage and get it checked. On my old Benz, that was the best I could do. Maybe you'll get lucky and it'll be something else that costs less. Keep us posted and good luck buddy!

Hey, thanks for your help! It's always good to know that you're not alone with such problems. I'll follow your advice and go straight to the garage tomorrow. Hope I'm lucky and it doesn't cost that much, but better safe than sorry. I will definitely report here what exactly the reason was and how much the repair cost. Thanks again and have a nice evening, buddy!

Hey, had a similar problem with my 2015 Mercedes E class diesel a few years ago. I would describe myself as someone with little car knowledge, so I took it to the garage. The reason for my problem was a faulty transmission control unit. It cost me about 1000 euros to repair and replace the unit. It could be that your car has the same problem. Could you share more information about your car, e.g. its exact model, mileage, etc.? That would help to determine more precisely whether it is the same problem or not.
