Problem with the rear window heating on a Citroen DS5 petrol engine built in 2013

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Citroen DS5 petrol model year 2013. The rear window heating does not work and an error is displayed. Have any of you ever had the problem of the rear window heater not working and can perhaps give me a few tips on how to fix it? Above all, I would be interested to know what was done in the workshop and what your experiences were. Thank you in advance!

Summary of the thread

A Citroen DS5 owner is experiencing an issue with the rear window heating not working and an error message being displayed. A similar issue in a Citroen DS4 was resolved by replacing faulty heater wires, which was costly. It is suggested to check the control unit and fuses, as a blown fuse could be a simpler and less expensive fix. The owner plans to consult a garage for further diagnosis.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I drive a Citroen DS4 2011, so quite similar. I'm not a car professional, but I've had some experience with car repairs. I once had something similar with my Citroen and the heater wires were faulty. After some troubleshooting and testing at my garage, it was determined that the heater wires needed to be replaced. I paid 585 euros for this, it was quite expensive but has worked perfectly since. Could you tell me a bit more about your car? For example, has similar work been done on it before? This will help me to give you more details and help you better.

Hey, thanks for your answer. My DS5 has now run just under 99870 kilometers. The last service was only a few months ago and there were no problems. Before that, the rear window heating wasn't repaired or anything like that. So this is the first time I've had this problem. I'm going to ask my garage whether the heating wires could really be faulty. That could be expensive, though. Thanks for the valuable tip!

No problem, that's what we drivers do, we help each other! Of course, with so many kilometers on the clock, something can always break. But who knows, maybe you'll be lucky and it won't be major damage. When you're at the garage, have them check the control unit and the fuses. My old Citroen blew a fuse once and that caused a similar problem. Could be a simple fix and save you a bit of money! Hope this helps. Let us know what the garage says! Good luck!

Hello, thank you very much for your advice! Having the control unit and the fuses checked is definitely a good idea, I wouldn't have thought of that myself so quickly. Of course, it would be great if it's just a blown fuse and I don't have to dig so deep into my pockets. I'll report back as soon as I get back from the workshop. Thanks again for your help!
