Problem with unstable engine and loss of power in Citroen Ccrosser 2007 - Possible defect in boost pressure sensor

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Citroen Ccrosser Diesel, year of manufacture 2007. Somehow the engine runs unevenly, jerks when accelerating and stutters when idling. On the highway it loses power and the engine makes a loud hissing noise. In addition, the exhaust gas cloud is pitch black and the check engine light is on. I think it could be the boost pressure sensor. Have any of you had similar experiences and how did you get the problem solved in the workshop? I would appreciate your tips and experiences!

Summary of the thread

A Citroen Ccrosser 2007 is experiencing an unstable engine, jerking during acceleration, stuttering at idle, power loss, a loud hissing noise, black exhaust smoke, and an illuminated check engine light. The initial suspicion is a defect in the boost pressure sensor. Possible causes include issues with the turbo, injection system, or high-pressure pump, as indicated by similar symptoms in other vehicles. It is advised to have the car checked by a garage to diagnose and resolve the issue, potentially involving the waste gate valve or charge air hoses.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello, I have some experience with cars and had a similar problem with my Citroen C4 Picasso Diesel, built in 2005. The problem was a defect in the waste gate valve. The repair at my garage cost 860 euros. As I'm not quite sure whether it's the same for you, could you please describe the exact condition and symptoms so that I can help you better.

Hey, thanks for your answer! My Ccrosser already has 100184 KM on it and the last service was about 6000 KM ago. The problem still persists after the service. The engine still hisses loudly and I notice that there is hardly any power when accelerating. The exhaust cloud is still black and smells strongly of diesel. I hope you can help me with this information.

From your description, it sounds very much like a problem with the turbo or perhaps even the injection system. The black smoke and the strong smell of diesel could indicate unburned fuel. The high-pressure pump may also be defective. I would advise you to go to a garage as soon as possible so that they can check it out. My garage read out my car at the time and analyzed the fault memory. In my Picasso, the waste gate valve was coked up and had to be replaced. Perhaps your car has a similar problem. I hope this helps you a little. Have a good trip anyway!

Thank you very much for your advice. To be honest, I'm also worried that it might have something to do with the turbo or the injection system. A colleague of mine once had the same problem and for him it was the high pressure pump. I will listen to your advice and have my car checked as soon as possible. There's no point in continuing to drive it, I don't want to risk any major damage. I'll let you know what comes out of it. Thanks again and have a good trip too!
