Problem with warning lights and possible fault with the active hood on the Renault Fluence 2014: experience and solutions wanted
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Renault Fluence owner is experiencing a flashing warning light on the speedometer and an airbag warning light, suspecting a fault with the active hood. A similar issue in a Renault Mégane was traced to an acceleration sensor, costing €315, but it could also be a software issue or an airbag fuse problem. The recommendation is to consult a Renault dealer for a professional diagnosis, as it might be a software-related issue that could be resolved without replacing the sensor.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, an error code was read out, but that didn't really help. My Fluence now has 61716 km on it. Didn't notice anything unusual at the last service. As for the symptoms, I only noticed the flashing warning light and the airbag light. Do you think it could really be the acceleration sensor? I have to admit, the 315 euros are quite a lot, but if it helps... Thanks for your help!

Hi, thanks for the additional information. From my previous experience with my Renault Mégane, it is definitely possible that the acceleration sensor is the problem. Of course, any error code could also indicate this. I also had a similar problem. But it could also just be a coincidence and the actual fault lies elsewhere. If the airbag light comes on, it's often a sign that something is wrong with the airbag fuse. I would recommend taking the car to a garage again and perhaps asking the Renault dealer. It could be that they have updates for the on-board computer that could fix this problem. Often such problems are software related and can be easily fixed. I'm sorry I can't give you a more specific answer. But I would definitely recommend getting another professional opinion before you spend the money on replacing the sensor. And who knows, maybe it's something that can be easily fixed and you don't even have to spend the 315 euros. I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck in solving this problem!

Hi, thanks for your advice. It's reassuring to hear that it might just be a software thing and that I don't necessarily need to replace the sensor. I will definitely go back to the garage and speak to the Renault dealer. Hopefully they will find a simple solution without me having to spend a lot of money. So, thanks again for your help and experience, it has really helped me!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Renault Mégane. I would describe myself as someone with only some car experience. In my garage, the fault was traced back to the "acceleration sensor", which cost me €315. It could be that you have a similar problem. Has an error code already been read out? And can you give me more details about your car (mileage, other symptoms, etc.)? Then I might be able to help you more.
