Hello everyone, I have a 2011 BMW 3 Series with a diesel engine and 277,000 km. Lately I've noticed that the check engine light is turning on. When starting, the idling engine causes the EGR valve to open and close continuously, which is noticeable in the engine sound. After a while, the problem disappears and the car runs perfectly, but the check engine light remains on and this fault appears. Has anyone had a similar experience or knows what could be the cause of this problem?

Start by checking the EGR valve for any carbon buildup or blockage, as this can cause it to malfunction. Cleaning the EGR valve might resolve the issue. If the problem persists, consider having the EGR valve and related components inspected by a professional. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
