Reset problem after servicing on BMW x5 Diesel

Hello everyone, I own a 2019 BMW x5 with a diesel engine and 161000 km mileage. I recently had maintenance done and changed the front brake pads, but I'm encountering a problem: I can't reset the maintenance indicator. The Carly system indicates that everything is in order, but the warning light and message persist. Additionally, I feel that the brakes are spongy and insufficient. Has anyone encountered this problem before or have any advice on how to proceed? Thanks in advance for your help!

For the maintenance indicator, try this: turn on the ignition without starting the engine, press and hold the odometer reset button until the service menu appears, then use the button to scroll to the brake pad reset option and hold it to reset. For the spongy brakes, check for air in the brake lines and ensure they are properly bled. If the issue persists, it could be a sign of a more serious problem, and I recommend having a mechanic inspect it for safety reasons. Let me know how it goes or if you have further questions!

I don’t know about the spongy feeling. But for resetting the brakes after a service I had the same issue, only for me it was the rear brakes Carly wouldn’t do it, the cars built in reset wouldn’t do it, an autel computer wouldn’t do it. Every method came back with a message stating unable to reset. The solution for me was that I had to turn the parking brake off (or leave it off) and then reset.
