Problems with ABS, heavy steering and steering wheel vibrations in Toyota Hilux model year 2008

ABS/DSC system is not working

Vibrating/shaking steering wheel

Power steering without function

Hey guys, I'm having a bit of trouble with my Toyota Hilux (built in 2008, gasoline engine)... The ABS doesn't work anymore, the steering is heavy and the steering wheel vibrates somehow. I'm guessing it could be a fault with the steering angle sensor, but I thought I'd see if any of you have had similar problems. Any tips or advice on troubleshooting? How did your garages fix it? Any experience would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Toyota Land Cruiser (built in 2006). My knowledge of cars is rather basic, I'm not an expert. I wanted to fix it myself at first, but initially it didn't work and I had to take it to the garage. It turned out that the coding of the steering angle sensor was faulty. The repair cost 195.0 euros. Can you tell me if you see any error codes on your board computer? I might be able to be more helpful with additional faults or symptoms. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for your answer! Well, my board computer doesn't show any error codes at the moment. But I think I'll take the car to the garage now and have the steering angle sensor code checked. My speedometer reading is 214707 km and the last service was just under six months ago... Maybe that's the reason. I'll report what comes out. Thanks again for your advice!

Hey, no problem! With such complex problems, it's probably always better to have a specialist take a look. Maybe the age of the car simply has something to do with it. After all, my Land Cruiser is a bit older and has also had its little aches and pains. Half-yearly service actually sounds pretty good, that shouldn't lead to any major problems unless something has been overlooked. Good to hear that you're not seeing any fault codes. That means you can rule out a few problems. However, if the sensor is actually faulty, the code may not be displayed correctly. It would be great if you could keep us up to date with what comes out of the workshop. Maybe we can learn something from it. And who knows, maybe I'll soon experience something similar with my Toyota. All the best!

Hey, thanks for the further input! You're right, with such complex problems I probably won't be able to avoid seeking professional help. And yes, the age of the car also plays a role of course. Your experience with your Land Cruiser definitely gives me even more food for thought. I hope it's nothing serious and can be fixed easily. Thanks for pointing out the missing fault code - I didn't have that on my radar. I'll definitely report back what comes out of the visit to the workshop. I think that others here could also benefit from the information. And who knows, maybe I can help others in a similar situation. Thanks again for your time and advice! All the best for you and your Land Cruiser too!
