Problems with ABS system in 2006 Mercedes CLK Class - Possible causes and solutions
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Mercedes CLK Class owner is experiencing issues with the ABS system and suspects worn transmission fluid as a potential cause. A similar case with a 2004 Mercedes E-Class was resolved by changing the gearbox oil, suggesting this as a possible solution. It is recommended to change the gearbox oil and check the brake sensors, as both could be contributing to the ABS malfunction. The owner plans to visit a garage for these checks and will update on the outcome.

Hi, thanks for your feedback! My Benz has now clocked up 60322 kilometers. The last inspection was a few months ago and the gearbox oil has not yet been changed. I think it might really be time for it now. Maybe this will solve my ABS problem? Best regards!

Hi again, Yes, it really does sound like it's time to change your gearbox oil. With the amount of miles and if it has never been changed, I would definitely recommend it. I can't say for sure whether this will solve your ABS problem, but driving with worn gearbox oil is definitely not ideal and can lead to further problems. It's best to make an appointment at the garage of your choice and have it checked. At the appointment, tell them exactly what you've told us here and they should be able to identify the problem. As a side tip, when you're at the garage, have them check the brake sensors too. These can also sometimes cause ABS problems. Good luck and hopefully the problem will be solved quickly! See you then!

Hello, thank you very much for your assessment and the helpful tips! I will probably have to go to the garage soon and have the gearbox oil changed and the brake sensors checked at the same time. Maybe I can fix the ABS problem that way. I'll definitely get back to you when I have more detailed information. Thanks again and see you soon!

Hey, I had a very similar problem with my 2004 Mercedes E-Class gasoline engine. I would describe myself as a car enthusiast with some experience. My transmission oil was actually worn out. I went to the garage and they changed the gearbox oil. It cost me around 365 euros, but everything was back to normal afterwards. To be able to help you more specifically, I would need more information about your car. How many kilometers has it done and when was the last inspection? Has the transmission oil ever been changed? Greetings
