Problems with alarm system and battery in Mercedes Vito Diesel 2018: causes and solutions

Weak battery when starting the engine

Alarm system malfunctions

Hey guys, I'm having some problems with my 2018 Mercedes Vito Diesel. The alarm system is acting up and the battery seems to get weaker every time I start it. I have a feeling it could be a malfunction of the anti-theft alarm system. Does anyone have any experience to share? Would like to know how this was dealt with in the workshop and what the exact cause was. Any tips would be appreciated!

Hi mate, I had a similar problem with my 2016 Mercedes Viano Diesel some time ago. I'm not a mechanics professional but have a bit of experience with cars. I took my car to the garage and they found that the base module was faulty. I had to have it replaced for 465 euros. What is your exact model and year? Then I could give you more specific information. Hopefully that will help.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! My Vito is from 2018 and already has 117873 km on the clock. Since the last inspection, it's actually been running without any problems, but the alarm system thing is really annoying. Good to know that it could possibly be the basic module. I'll try my luck at the garage. It probably won't be cheap, but the main thing is that the problem is solved. Thanks again for the tip!

No problem, always happy to help! Well then, sounds like we're driving the same car! The problems with the alarm system are indeed annoying. It was also a reason for me to visit the garage back then. Yes, in my experience the basic module could be the culprit, but of course that's no guarantee. In any case, it's worth having it checked in the workshop. Of course, the battery problems could also have other causes, such as a defect in the charge management system or the ageing of the battery itself, especially if you already have a few kilometers on the clock. In any case, I would go to the workshop in good time to avoid further problems. And even if the problem does turn out to be a bit more expensive - in my opinion, safety always comes first. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's nothing worse and that your Vito will soon be running smoothly again! Keep us up to date!

Thank you very much for your detailed answer! You're right: safety first. So I'll make an appointment at the garage soon to have it checked. The possible causes for the battery problems you mentioned definitely make sense and could explain the problem. I just hope that the costs remain manageable... I will definitely keep you posted. Thanks again for the support!
