Problems with battery and lights in the Opel Corsa 2006 - Troubleshooting and solutions

Hi folks, my 2006 Opel Corsa with a gasoline engine has been acting up recently. The lights are sometimes dim or flickering and the battery dies when starting. Could this be due to a fault in the battery sensor? Do any of you know the problem and can give me tips on how to solve it? I would be really interested to hear how you were able to solve it in your workshop and what your experiences were. Thanks for your help!

Hello, watch out, I had similar problems with my Opel Astra 2004. (It's kind of the big brother of your Corsa). I'm not a car mechanic or anything, just have some experience of course. So, I took my car to the garage and they found a faulty battery sensor microprocessor. That cost me 315.00 euros to fix. Is your battery old or did you just get a new one? Maybe there are more details that could help to investigate your problem further. In short, cars are not always easy to do on your own, so it might be a good idea to have a professional look at it if you are unsure. Hope I've been able to help you at least a little!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My Corsa has now done 91125 km, the last service was recently. The battery is actually quite new, I only changed it a few months ago. Maybe it really is to do with the battery sensor and I should have an expert look at it. 315 euros isn't cheap, but if it helps, what the hell... I'll definitely take your advice into consideration, thanks again!

Hello again, glad I could help you! Since you say that your battery is still new, I would almost guess the battery sensor. The Corsa and Astra are quite similar in their technology, so it could well be that the problem is similar. It might be a bit expensive, but sometimes it's what it costs to make sure your car runs properly again. And at the end of the day, you're probably better off fixing it than letting it run and it getting worse or leading to other problems. In any case, good luck and I hope you don't have any more car problems soon!

Hello again, really cool of you to help me like this. I will call my garage today and make an appointment. It makes sense that it could be the battery sensor rather than the new battery. And you're absolutely right, I'd better fix the problem now before it gets worse or damages other parts. I hope everything is running smoothly again with your Astra. Have a good weekend and thanks again for your help!
