Problems with cruise control in the Seat Arona Diesel 2018: experiences and solutions

Hello friends, I have an atypical problem with my Seat Arona Diesel from 2018. The cruise control no longer works and an error is displayed. Has anyone ever had the same problem and had it repaired in the garage? I would like to know what you have experienced and how you solved the problem. Many thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Seat Arona Diesel owner is experiencing issues with the cruise control, which has stopped working and is displaying an error. The error code P0571 suggests a potential problem with the brake light switch, which can prevent the cruise control from functioning if it falsely signals that the brake is applied. Another possibility mentioned is a faulty activation button for the cruise control. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle checked by a mechanic to diagnose and address the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2016 Seat Ibiza. I would classify my car knowledge level as average. After the fault occurred, I took the car to my garage. It turned out that the engine control unit was faulty and I had to pay 1000 euros to have it replaced. Could you perhaps give more details about your car? For example, what error message is displayed? That would help me to give you more specific advice.

Hey, thanks for the answer. The error code P0571 was displayed for me. The last service was at 31252 km and I'm currently still driving at this mileage. The engine control unit sounds expensive, I hope it's nothing serious. Do you have any other ideas as to what it could be?

Hey, thanks for the additional information. Error code P0571 usually indicates a problem with the brake light switch. The cruise control doesn't work when it receives a signal that the brake is being applied - which can be the case if the switch is faulty. This was a problem on my Ibiza once, and the repair was much cheaper than a new engine control unit. So it could be that your Arona has this problem. I would advise you to have it checked by a mechanic. Hopefully it's nothing more serious! Good luck with that.

Hey, that makes sense. Thanks for your help! I will take your advice and get it checked out by a professional. It's reassuring to hear that it could be something less serious. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again and have a great evening!

Servus, As has already been written, the tip about the brake light switch is absolutely correct, that the cruise control does not work because of this. In my case, when my cruise control didn't work, it was fortunately a little easier. In my case, it was actually just the button for activating the cruise control that was defective. So it can be simple sometimes ;)
