Problems with diesel Mercedes GLE 2015: check engine light, poor engine performance and high fuel consumption

Hey guys, does anyone have any experience of problems with a 2015 diesel Mercedes GLE Class? Mine is currently acting up with the check engine light on, significantly less engine power and really bad fuel consumption. The exhaust also smells pretty bad and it shakes when idling. I think a rough running engine could be the culprit, but I'm not sure. Have any of you had similar problems and how did you solve it in the workshop? What experiences have you had? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my diesel Mercedes CLA-Class model from 2013. I would describe myself as someone with some experience in cars. I had the same symptom: the check engine light came on and the car had significantly less power. I then drove straight to my garage. It turned out that air leakage due to defective/porous rubber hoses and a defective crankcase ventilation system was the cause of the problem. After the repair, which cost me 235 euros, my car ran like a new car again. You may have the same problem, but to be sure and share more details, I need more information about your car. Can you maybe give me more details about the specific symptoms? Maybe we can find a solution together.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! Mine is at 131303 km now and the last service was done on time. I agree with you that there are many possible causes and it's always difficult to pinpoint the exact culprit. Your experience with the false air via the rubber hoses and the crankcase ventilation sounds very possible, I wouldn't have considered that myself. I will take the car to the garage and have these points checked. Thanks again for the advice, I'll keep you posted on how things progress!

No problem, always happy to help! It definitely sounds like you've done your homework and you're addressing the problem properly. With the mileage and since you had the services done promptly, it's really hard to tell what the problem might be without looking at the car more closely. But your symptoms seem to match my experience. It's more than likely that the problem can be traced to a vacuum side of the system, so definitely have the crankcase breather and individual vacuum hoses checked more closely. I'd love to hear how it goes and wish you the best of luck with it! Keep your fingers crossed that the repair won't be too expensive!

Thank you so much for your support and kind words! I'm really glad I asked here and got your helpful advice. Will definitely have the crankcase breather and hoses checked. I'll let you all know as soon as I know more and hopefully the problem is fixed. Thanks again for the thumbs up, hopefully it stays in my budget range! See you all then!
