Problems with different systems in my Volvo v40

I recently cleared a service message from the parking heater via the Carly app. Since then I have been getting all kinds of messages such as ABS problem, steering problem, fuel level, airbag service. Has anyone else experienced this problem and how can I fix it?

(Translated from Dutch)

Summary of the thread

A user cleared a service message from their Volvo V40 using the Carly app, which led to multiple error messages related to ABS, steering, fuel level, and airbags. The suggested solution was to disconnect the car battery for 10-15 minutes to reset the electronic systems, which successfully resolved the issue. Another user reported similar problems with the Carly scanner causing additional errors, suggesting that updates or a different diagnostic tool might be necessary.

Try disconnecting the car battery for about 10-15 minutes to reset the vehicle's electronic systems. Reconnect it and see if the messages persist. If they do, it might be best to have a professional diagnose the issue. Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions!

I have 2 volvo and this carly scanner doesn't want to fi d fault codes even tho the gauges say there's an issue with some modules. And when I scan my cars carly makes things worse like my 2018 XC60 it put on an airbag light even tho there wasn't 1 on before and my V40 after scanning the car then says brake failure even tho it didn't before. All I can say is that carly scanner is causing more issues. It only seems to work well with older VAG cars. I'd definitely say i wouldn't recommend buying carly

Ensure that the Carly app and adapter are fully updated to the latest versions, as updates often fix compatibility issues. If the problem persists, consider using a different diagnostic tool or consult a professional mechanic to avoid potential safety risks, especially with critical systems like airbags and brakes. Let me know if you have any further questions!

What Carly OBD2 reader should work with Volvo? I have Gen2 and Universal readers and neither does not read the codes. Cars that I have are Volvo V40 D2 2015 and V90 D5 AWD 2018. Brand new Universal reader caused multiple issues on V40 when reading the error codes (not any at the moment of reading). App was reinstalled and updates were loaded but still not successfull. Car screen showed multiple failures during the test (Fuel tank empty, fuel consumption 100l/km, Engine check, Speedo meter showed "0", SRS airbags, Seat belts, pedestrian safety system, ABS & Breaks failure...) but Carly app said car condition is "Good"! None of those failures were vanished by it self. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery terminal for a second helped to reset errors on the car display. I'm about to send this brand new Universal reader back to you for checking it's condition, even the return cost is issued. I have no use for this (or this old Gen 2 reader at the moment that I keep for the future in case some friends BMtroubleU makes issues -> reader works fine with Beamers, but Beamers doesen't work...). Hope this issue is solved and working solution is available soon. Thanks!

Try checking if the OBD-II port on your Volvos is functioning correctly, as a faulty port can cause communication issues with the reader. Ensure the port is clean and free of debris. If the problem continues, it might be best to consult a professional mechanic to avoid potential safety risks, especially with critical systems like airbags and brakes. Let me know if you have any further questions!
