Problems with DPF regeneration and engine performance in Skoda Fabia Diesel 2012 - experience and tips wanted
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Skoda Fabia Diesel with 77,245 km is experiencing issues with the check engine light and reduced engine power, likely due to a malfunctioning DPF regeneration process. The suspected cause is a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the sensor, which restored the vehicle's performance at a reasonable cost.

Hey, I understand your concerns, I had similar problems with my 2015 Octavia Skoda Diesel. The check engine light was also on and I was getting strange warning messages. My first thought was: Oh dear, what a bummer! But don't worry, it's usually not as bad as it seems. The exhaust back pressure sensor was replaced in my garage, so the DPF regeneration worked again. It was actually no big deal to replace the sensor. From my experience, I would say that the garage won't have that much to do with it. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply and the encouragement! Do you remember roughly what you paid for the repair? And have you had any problems since the repair? Thank you in advance!

Hi, of course, no problem! Since my visit to the mechanic, I haven't had any further problems with the exhaust back pressure sensor. Everything is running like clockwork again, so the sensor is doing what it promises. I still remember the cost of the repair - €102 to fix the rubber hose from the DPF to the sensor, which was clogged and leaking. Hope this helps you and keep your fingers crossed that you get your problem under control. Best regards!

Hey guys, I have the same problem and it's reassuring to hear that it doesn't necessarily have to be expensive after the repair. My A3 has now reached the 120,000 km mark and I've read that these sensors often fail around this mileage. It seems like it's time to have the exhaust back pressure sensor checked. Thank you for your help and experience. Keep your fingers crossed for me! All the best to you!

Hi, thank you very much for your help! Your advice and experiences were really helpful and eased my worries a little. I went to the mechanic after all and he actually found a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. The repair only cost €100 - a price I can live with, especially as my Fabia is now running smoothly again. It really wasn't as bad as I had feared. So, thanks again for your tips. It has helped me a lot! And always keep a watchful eye on your car's signals! All the best and see you next time!
