Problems with engine control and warning lights on VW Eos Diesel 2008: Possible fault with fuel filler flap release

Check engine light on

Fault stored

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hi everyone, I need your help with my VW Eos Diesel, built in 2008. The indicator light in the engine compartment and the warning light in the speedometer have recently come on and there is an error in the memory. I suspect the problem could be the faulty unlocking of the fuel filler flap, but I'm not sure. Has anyone had similar experiences and perhaps tips on troubleshooting? I am particularly interested in how your garage solved the problem. Many thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my VW Golf Diesel, built in 2006. I am not a mechanic, but I have had a few experiences. In my case, the servomotor was defective and I had to go to the garage. They fixed it for me and it cost me 280 euros. I would recommend that you do the same. Can you please give me a few more details about your vehicle? Things like model, year, mileage and whether you've had any other repairs done would be helpful. That might help me to help you even better.

Hey, thanks for your answer. My Eos has already run 139545 km, and the last service was only recently. I haven't done any major repairs yet. I'll check the servomotor, thanks for the tip!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! Considering the mileage and the year your car was built, it could well be the servomotor. I would recommend you visit a garage and have it checked out before your car causes any major problems. I hope it's nothing serious and that you can drive again soon without any worries. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for your recommendations and advice. I will definitely visit a garage and have the servomotor checked. I also hope it's nothing serious. As soon as I have any updates, I'll keep you posted. Thanks again!

Hello, I have just read out my Golf 5 built in 2005 and it shows me the driver's side airbag igniter error. I tried deleting it but the error comes back. Kind regards Philipp Schedl

Hello Philipp95, the issue you're facing could be due to a faulty airbag igniter or a problem with the wiring. It's a safety-relevant issue and I strongly recommend you to have it inspected by a professional mechanic as soon as possible. After the inspection, could you please update us on the progress?
